Pre-Send Review Checklist

Creating Briefs

Pre-Send Review Checklist

Before you send a brief to a creator, run it against this list. It takes two minutes and catches the gaps that cause revision rounds, missed disclosures, and off-message posts.

  • One core message, stated up top in a single sentence
  • Audience and their problem named clearly
  • A suggested angle with at least one reference post
  • Format, length, and posting window specified
  • CTA wording / discount code included
  • FTC disclosure requirement (#ad) stated
  • Allowed claims and hard no-gos listed
  • Explicit creative-freedom note (no word-for-word script)
  • Approval window and turnaround set
  • Tags, hashtags, and payment terms included
💡 Never skip the bottom four. Disclosure, CTA, and approval are the items that come back to bite you most — legally, commercially, and operationally — and they belong in every brief, every time.

Next up: Mistakes, Best Practices & Takeaways — the common traps to avoid and the habits that make briefs repeatable.
